After breakfast, beginning at 8.30 a.m., visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the P.N. Zoological Park (closed Thursday), Tenzing Rock, the Ropeway, the Tibetan Refugee Self-help Centre (closed Sunday), the Tea Garden (outer view), and the Japanese Temple. The evening is free for shopping or recreational activities. Spend the night at Darjeeling.
After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion to Mirik (4,902 ft.), a remote picturesque hill station with a lovely lake surrounded by forested hills on all sides and Mt Kanchenjunga in the background. The path passes through several beautiful tea gardens, orange groves, cardamom plantations, and pine forests. Visit Sumendu Lake, which is well-known for being one of the best man-made lakes in the world.
